THE KID THEY CALL MAC

Kid Mac (aka Macario De Souza) sure knows how to hit the ground running.

Hailing from Sydney’s south, he’s carved a name for himself in the Australian Hip Hop scene with a flow that sets him apart from other MCs. With lyrics that aptly capture the good time, party-centric vibe of the Australian scene, this summer, it's not Detroit that Aussie crowds will be putting their hands up for....

Mac first made waves as part of hip hop duo 3Seven7 - writing and recording and several tracks for the multi-award winning Bra Boys documentary (which he co-directed).

Not content to rest on his laurels, he has spent much of the year in the studio writing and working alongside producers such as Jamie Holt from Sydney rock band The Camels, Tony Wall (Kanye West, Kiss) and Grammy award-winning producer RZA from Wu Tang Clan. Kid Mac also co-produced two tracks with RZA at Sydney's Studio 301, performing guest vocals on one of the tracks.

Collaborations with artists such as The Beautiful Girls, Bukkcity and New Zealand’s #1 hip hop crew Nesian Mystik have kept the tracks coming this year, with the single ‘Showtime’ (digital release 25 Feb 2009) reaching #11 on Channel V’s Urban countdown. The video of the infectious tune features a cameo appearance from world champion surfer, Taj Burrow.

Outside the studio, Mac has been hitting the touring circuit with his 4 piece band in tow – blowing up dance floors here and overseas including support act for US rapper Mickey Avalon (best know for his smash hits 'The Jane Fonda', 'Mr Right'), The Pro Show (Gold Coast & Cairns), as support for one of Brazil's most accomplished hip hop artist Marcelo D2 and Australia's own dynamic hip hop act Bliss N Eso along with several of his headline shows in his hometown of Sydney. Kid Mac has also just returned home from a tour in Bali, Jakarta and supporting LA's The Game on his recent LAX national tour in Australia.
